Black Panther creating Cultural Change

The movie Black Panther came out in 2018, and articles have come out saying that this is one of the most important movies of our generation as it's a film that has an all black cast reason why this is important is because there has rarely been any movies with an all black cast, and especially with it being marvel which is a science fiction film production company made it that much more important.

The film industry have struggled with including diversity as it's been white dominant for a long time, and for a large production company like Marvel which is owned by white producers to come out with a film with an all black cast is an incredible change in the film industry. Why including diversity is important is because it creates a part of reality on the screen and allows everyone to feel included. Because people like seeing themselves on the screen. Which is why Black Panther was such a massive culture breakthrough because we don't often get to see an entire black cast in a film often.

Black Panther I found was an important film because of the culture breakthrough and representation shown on the screen. As the main culture representation shown on screen is people of color and women. The representation of women I found was the most powerful in this film as they're shown as the warriors and protectors of Wakanda which I thought was a fresh representation of women being shown in film. As women are of depicted to be protected rather being the protectors. This representation of women is powerful and strong representation and it was good to see this representation being shown on screen.

Along with representation I also thought the representation of people of color was shown really well. As the director Ryan Coogler is an African American I felt like it was important for him to show representation of black people, as in a way this film would be important in terms of having diversity. Because since Wakanda is a make-believe futuristic place where we've never seen something like this where it's a full black cast, and also with Black Panther being directed by an African American director the representation of African culture was more authentic then if it was directed by a white director.

Besides the cultural representation shown in Black Panther, I found Chadwick Boseman played the black panther brilliantly! He was a strong character but also had a humorous side to it which is what Marvel does so well with their films. Because although it's an action film about superheroes having the comedic element in it makes the films feel light and more enjoyable. The action sequences were also incredible such as one of my favorites was the car chase scene I thought it was funny and I always love a car chase scene within a film.

I thought this film was important for me and the world to watch as it shows that the film industry is moving in terms of involving more diversity and having good representation of culture and gender. I also thought this film was important for me to write in terms of what is going on in the United States with the Black Lives Matter movement, which is horrible what happened to George Floyd, but we also have to understand why this matters and that the world needs to change, and everyone needs to be treated as equals no matter what race, gender or sexuality you are!! I hope anyone who's been involved in the protests are being safe, I understand that it's important to protest because we need to have our voices heard more than ever at the moment, as the world is seeming like a dark place at the moment. But we need to get through the storm so then we can see the sun. But this change we are making is important and we need to continue to use our voices to make positive changes to our world, which I know we can! With this Black Panther shows positive changes coming through in the world including diversity in film which I'm looking forward to seeing more!!

Black Panther is an incredible film and is one of my favorite Marvel films ever, and of course Marvel have done incredible films but this one more speaks to the world in terms of having positive changes in our world.
