In honor of Tom's 24th Birthday and his 5th anniversary of being Spider-man I thought I'd write this! As you all may know reading this Tom Holland was cast as the new Spider-Man in 2015 and made his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. Today I'm here to argue and discuss why Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man. Spider-man has always been my favorite superhero ever since my mum introduced me to the Toby Mcguire versions. I love Toby Mcguire's version, but Tom Holland brought something fresh to Spiderman that we haven't really seen. Here are my reasons for why Tom Holland is the best Spider-man.

1. Tom does his own stunts!

With the help of him being in Billy Elliot his dancing and gymnastics training helped him a lot to do his own stunts. Of course he didn't do any of them such as the scene where he was dropped in a lake during Spider-man Homecoming. With him being able to do his own stunts made him seem like a real Spider-man which the director would've enjoyed more. As Toby Mcguire barely did any of his own stunts. Therefore Tom being able to do his own stunts makes Spider-man seem more real, and Tom is able to almost be like a real Spider-man.

2. He becomes an Avenger!

Although sadly Spider-man has been slightly taken out of the MCU I don't know the whole story on this so don't question me. Anyway, Tom's Spider-man becomes apart of the Avengers which I think is one of the best versions of Spider man we could've seen! Course we love seeing Spider-man fight on his own, but what's cooler than being apart of the Avengers. The first appearance we see of Tom joining the Avengers is in Captain America: Civil War, we then see him with the Avengers in Infinity War, where unfortunately he dies and in Endgame where he comes back. I loved seeing this collaboration of Spider-man joining the Avengers as it made him feel like he was properly apart of something! Although Tom seems like he's the baby of the Avengers which I find is endearing as Tony Stark and Captain America all tend to treat him like a son. Anyway, the point is Tom Holland's Spider-man becomes an Avenger.

3. Tom can do an incredible American accent.

Not only an American accent but a Queens, New York accent! Yes, Tom Holland is British which a lot of people tend to be shocked about. But that's because his American accent is so good so how can you not! My own brother was shocked to find out he was British. Therefore taking on the role as Spiderman obviously he had to learn how to do an American accent, which he did an incredible job with!

4. He has Tony Stark as his mentor

We all know Tony Stark as Iron Man and played by the one and only Robert Downy Jr, but Tony Stark plays sort of a father-figure to Peter Parker, with this we could see the good chemistry Tom and Robert had and this portrayed really well on screen. Tony Stark being Peter's mentor, gives Tony someone to think about that isn't himself which is incredible character development as we can finally start to see emotion growing in Tony Stark. Also Tony Stark being Peter's mentor allows him to learn from him and to not make the same mistakes Tony did. But Peter wants to be like him, but is nieve to the fact that he could get in danger for looking for danger which is what is shown in Spider-man: Homecoming, and also needs to learn that he just needs to be a kid to keep himself humble.

5. Tom's Spider-man suit is made by Tony Stark

Yes Toby Mcguire made his own suit, but the reason why the Tony Stark suit is better is because it has so many other cool gadgets and things to it. Also his web shooters are made rather than physically coming out of Spider-man's wrist, also his web shooters have different kind of combinations. So it makes the suit seem more interesting.

6. Tom Holland is a hero in real life.

What makes me love Tom Holland as Spider-man even more is that he's seen being Spider-man as a responsibility to put smiles on people's faces. During Tom's time of shooting Spiderman he would have a few hours of doing nothing so he decided to use his time wisely take his suit and visit children's hospitals. He saw what an impact he had on these kids so every chance he gets now he visits a children's hospital such as every city he went to on a press tour he visited a children's hospital. Not only has he done this but he's also opened up a charity foundation with his family called the Brother's Trust which I previously wrote a blog post on and started 2017. He's done many other things such as a girl was getting crushed by paparazzi and Tom helped her, he gave a homeless man $100 for lending him a dollar, he's done so much to help people around him, which has helped people see him as a real superhero and that he sees his role as responsibility to do things for others. So in a way he's like a real life Spider-man!!

7. Tom's Spider-man is relatable

Since Tom plays a high school student this feeds into that Peter Parker is more relatable because if you think about it the majority of us have been to high school therefore is it's easier to relate. Tom being Peter Parker is also relatable simply because he's a teenager because as a teenager we can all relate such as to things like going through puberty, struggling to talk to your crush, not having enough money for the bus. He's also relatable in the sense of if you gave a fifteen year old kid super powers he'd have the time of his life and would always have the dream of wanting to go and save the world. Such as when Peter Parker comes back from fighting with the avengers in Civil War all he wants to do is go and fight with the Avengers again.

8. Tom as Peter Parker is a good role model

When Tom got cast as Spider-man he felt this responsibility that he has to be a good role model especially for young people. Which is what Tom has shown as during his time of set or from doing press he would go and visit a children's hospital because he feels the responsibility to put smiles on people's faces especially the kids as they look up to Spider-man as being a hero to them so in a way Tom has found a way to be a hero on and off screen. Even Peter Parker himself has shown to be kind and a good role model as does good with being a neighborhood Spider-man with helping the people in his community and even just being kind to his classmates even when he gets bullied by Wes he chooses not to retaliate and chooses to be kind anyway. The good thing about Peter Parker being Spider-man and having it as a secret that he is Spider-man allows him to stay humble, as he still goes to high school and living in Queens we see that he's a regular fifteen year old kid, whereas if he told everyone that he was Spider-man he wouldn't be seen as a regular high school student and he wouldn't be as humble. This teaches kids to also stay humble and kind, and no matter who you are it's important to always be kind and stay humble because we're all human and it doesn't matter where you come from or who you are to treat everyone as equals is important.

Although Toby Mcguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-man are important to appreciate as they were the originals and what made Spider-man popular. But Tom Holland brings something new to his character almost makes his character seem more relatable and his character reminds people a lot about the comics as that's what Peter Parker was, and lastly Stan-lee approved for him to be Spider-man so if the creator of Marvel agrees then we all should to. However I love Tom as Spider-man and I can't wait to see what the future of Spider -Man holds!!

Hope you all enjoyed this article and comment who or what you would like me to discuss next, and I'll speak to you all in my next post,

Thanks, Madi xx
